Please note that the video and article screenshots may appear slightly different due to ongoing DesignO version upgrades. The tutorial video was originally recorded on DesignO Version 2.0, whereas the help article has now been updated to reflect Version 2.5. As a result, certain UI elements, screen layouts, or timestamp references in the screenshots may vary from what is shown in the video. However, the overall functionality, workflow, and process demonstrated in both the video and the article remain the same and accurate. The steps can be followed as demonstrated, irrespective of the minor interface differences caused by version enhancements.
In this article, you'll learn how to create a template for a print product and assign it to the desired product.
Step 1: Understand the purpose of a template. A template serves as a pre-designed framework that helps your customers create designs faster and easier. It saves time, looks professional, and is easy to customize.
Step 2: Navigate to the template section. Here, you'll find multiple filters to help you sort through the templates. You can filter by store, selected categories, or name.
Step 3: Select multiple templates by clicking on the appropriate area. Once selected, you have the option to delete them or assign them to a store.
Step 4: Add a new template. You'll be directed to the add new template page. The enable template option should already be enabled.
Step 5: Assign the store you're working with and name your template.
Step 6: Assign the categories you want the template to reflect in. For instance, if you're working with a poster product, select the poster category.
(Optional):
1. Upload a thumbnail for your template. If you do not upload the thumbnail, it will automatically show the same as the design you prepare for the template.
2. Enter the description of the template you are creating.
Step 7: Choose your personalization profile for your print product, which should be the same for the product and the template. Also, ensure the number of pages, width, and height match your product's dimensions.
Step 8: If you want to assign any related templates or do any SEO work, you can do that from this page. Once done, hit submit.
Step 9: After submitting, you'll be directed back to the templates page. Here, you'll find the edit template option, which opens your design tool.
Step 10: Design your template. You can add a background and a heading to differentiate your template.
Step 11: Save your design.
Step 12: Go to your product and select assign templates. Here, enter the width and height of the template you created and then click on assign default template.
Step 13: Assign the template category and the template you've created. Once done, click Done.
Step 14: Save the product changes by clicking submit and then go to the product page and give a hard refresh to update the page.
Step 15: Click on Personalize to see the template you've created and assigned. Customers can make changes if they wish.
You will see that instead of the blank canvas, the template you assigned to this product opens.
Step 16: If you want to create a template that doesn't fit into existing categories, you can create a new category. Go to categories, click on add new categories, assign the store, and name the category.
Step 17: Ensure the enable category option is on, then hit submit. Your new category will now be visible.
That's it! You've now learned how to create and assign a template for a print product.
