Die Cutting

Die Cutting

In terms of printing, die-cutting refers to using a steel or sharp razor machine to cut paper, cards, or label stock into various forms. Like printing, die cutting is also an automated process, allowing multiple stocks to be cut uniformly into the same shape.

Almost all printers include standard dies available to cut common shapes. But for custom shapes, custom dies are created. Also, die cutting is versatile. It can be used to cut shapes on the whole piece, one corner, or from the center of the printed piece.

Due cutting can be designed to cut an outline of a shape, called perforated die cutting. This is specially used for ID cards and coupons so the customer can easily remove them.
