Learn how preflight works in DesignO

This guide explains the use of the new preflight feature in DesignO. Preflight allows proofreading of artwork files that come with orders in DesignO, either through personalisation from the design tool or directly via artwork upload. This feature helps identify and correct any errors in the artwork before it enters the production process.

The preflight feature in DesignO leverages a third-party preflight service, "Atomyx Prepare". Users can choose to have their own API key for Atomyx Prepare through DesignO, or directly from the Atomyx team.

Setting Up Preflight in DesignO

Step 1: Set up API keys for the preflight application. Log into the DesignO admin panel, navigate to web2print setup, access settings, and find the preflight setting panel.

Step 2: Enable the preflight feature, add the API endpoint, and input the API key. Choose the required output file format for feedback from the preflight application.

For more information about file types, refer to the Atomics prepare help guide. Atomyx Prepare uses the "pdfToolbox" preflight engine at its core.

Step 3: Test the API for a secure and successful connection and save these configurations.

Setting Up Products for Preflight

Step 1: Once the preflight application is integrated and tested, set up the products for which the preflight feature should be enabled.

Step 2: Ensure the preflight feature is enabled for the production profile assigned to the product.

Step 3: Choose a profile from the list of standard profiles available in the system or create a custom profile and upload it.

For more information about preflight profiles and how to create them, refer to the Calus website.

Using the Preflight Feature

Step 1: Browse the product on the demo Magento website and personalize it.

Step 2: Upload a low-resolution image to check if the preflight application works.

Step 3: Place the order.

Step 4: Check the DesignO backend to confirm the order has been received.

Step 5: Create a job for the order and start the job.

Step 6: Generate the production files for processing the order.

Step 7: Start the file check.

Step 8: Check the status of the file check. If the file check fails, download the report to see the error.

This process automates the file check for any errors early in the production cycle.

In the jobs list, a cross mark indicates that the preflight on the artwork file for a job has failed. No mark indicates that the preflight still needs to be done. Two green right marks indicate that the preflight for an order has been successful and passed.
